Monday January 18, 2010 at 0635 hours, Chief 6 (Riffe), Chief 6A (Montgomery), Chief 6C (Morris), Squad 6 (Sgt Williams), Engine 62 (Farrell) and Ambulance 68 (Morgan) were alerted for the auto accident at Route 2 & Wayside Drive (A-69 was committed on a separate medical). The Huntingtown Volunteers arrived to find a mini-van that had struck a stake-body dump truck with a passenger in the van trapped. Squad 6 arrived, stabilized & secured the vehicle and began extrication efforts with the HURST 32" Jaws. During the extrication, the patient voluntarily was able to self-extricate from the crumpled seat, crawl over into the driver's seat and hop out of the vehicle. Both patients in the van were transported to Calvert Memorial by both Ambulances. The driver of the dump truck was evaluated by North Beach Ambulance 18. Units cleared at 0700 hours.
