Dunkirk VFD Chief 5 Hospitalized at Medstar Hospital

This morning around 0500 hrs while at work, DC Fire & EMS Engine 30 & Truck 17 responded to a first due fatal row-house fire. While performing a search in the basement for the trapped occupant, Firefighter Toby Sealey (Chief of Dunkirk VFD) was burnt when a flashover occurred in the basement. He experienced 2nd degree burns to his shoulder, arms, wrist and ears. He has been admitted to Medstar Hospital for further observation and may possibly be released tomorrow. Many friends, family and the DCFD Burn Foundation is working with him through this recovery.
