The Huntingtown VFD has set another precadent.....for the 4th year in a row. The Southern Maryland Firefighter Skills USA Vo-tech competition occured yesterday in Leonardtown, MD Members, Hunter Stewart finished in 1st place and Matt Fisher finished in 2nd place. Because they finished between 1st - 3rd place, they are both going to the State Competition in Annapolis, MD on March 27!! Congratulations to both of them.
This event occurs every year; all the local high schools in the county send the top students from the high-school cadet program to compete for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The top 3 students from the Tri-County competition are invited to the State competition in Annapolis, MD in March. The competition was a tremendous success.
Last year, member, Ben Jeffreys finished in 1st place and his twin brother, Mike Jeffreys finished in 3rd place. Two years ago, member Josh Buckler was selected to the competition. Three years ago, members, Ty Lester & Rick Grierson competed in the Tri-County competition, state competition, and national competition in Kansas City, Missouri.
