The Auxiliary of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Inc., has been an active part of the community for over 35 years.
The purpose of the Auxiliary is to support and assist the members of the Department. Our name says it all, “All Volunteer, All the Time.” Our organization assists the members of the Department by supplying food and refreshments to our Firefighters and EMTs on long calls. Just as our Firefighters and EMTs can be called out at any hour day or night; we, too, will respond to support our members 24 hours a day.
Our organization also participates in non-fundraising events. In the past, our Auxiliary has hosted yard sales with a fire prevention twist. The children were able to explore the rescue equipment, ask questions to our Firefighters, try on some of their gear, and even spray water like a real Firefighter! With the help of our members, we were able to teach many children about fire safety.
Our organization also helps to support the families and members of our Department. We work closely with the membership to assist the membership with various social events, as well as other projects the Department needs.
Our Business Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. We discuss future events and any other ideas the members may have for the good of the organization. Our organization is always looking for new members. If you would like more information, please email us at: Auxiliary@hvfd6.org

Ladies Auxiliary Prayer:
~ Author Unknown ~
The Auxiliary, in fact, is more than a
name. So God when we pray for the
firemen's care, include the ladies, who
were also there.
The men are all weary, some of them
spent, the refreshments that arrive are like
heaven sent.
As they wait for the signal, the time
draws near, for that sooner or later to be
suddenly here.
The ladies again wait, but this time they
know, that sooner or later, they too will
go.
It's mostly routine and done without flair,
the men return, their ladies are there.
But then comes the call, the tough one to
fight, a working fire that may last through
the night.
The reheated meals, the unsipped drink,
are a common occurrence, much more
then you think.
The ladies wait, while their men
respond, united as one in a common
bond. The bond of serving, each in their
own way, the needs that arise, be what
they may.
